Learn to Skate
The Avon Canton Farmington Youth Hockey Association (ACFYHA) Learn to Skate Program is the perfect introduction to ice skating for new skaters ages 4 and up. This program is designed to help children build confidence on the ice while learning the basic fundamentals of skating in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Our highly qualified instructors lead engaging on-ice activities and fun skating games across three separate sessions, helping participants develop balance, coordination, and essential skating skills. The focus of the program is not only to teach the fundamentals of skating, but also to foster a love for the sport and an interest in skating activities.
For many participants, the Learn to Skate program serves as the first step toward joining an organized youth hockey program, providing a strong foundation for future development within Avon Hockey.
Whether your child is stepping on the ice for the first time or looking to improve their early skating skills, the ACFYHA Learn to Skate Program offers an exciting and welcoming place to begin their skating journey

Welcome to the ACFYHA Learn to Skate Program! This program is designed for children ages 4 and up who are ready to build confidence on the ice while learning fundamental skating skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Participants must bring the following equipment to each session:
Ice skates
Hockey helmet
Protective gloves
Neck laceration guard

Continue Your Hockey Journey
After completing the Learn to Skate program, players who are ready to continue developing their skating skills and learn the fundamentals of hockey are encouraged to register for the ACFYHA Developmental Program. Our half-season developmental program is the perfect next step for young skaters looking to build confidence, improve their skills, and begin playing the game in a fun, age-appropriate environment.
